| Seaman Timber Company Inc. Introduction Corporate Overview Seaman Timber Company Inc. a first generation company, was founded in 1955 by James D. Seaman, President and principal owner. Beginning as a graduate forester in the woods, Seaman has guided the company's development into one of the most vertically integrated family owned forest product operations in Alabama employing over 250 people with an annual payroll of nearly $7.5 million. Gross annual sales currently are at $55
million. Presently, production facilities on the Montevallo site
include two sawmills, a planer mill, pallet shop, resaw, crosstie/switchtie handling and
air-drying operation, pressure treating plant, lumber sorting and stacking area, post and
pole mill, tie-plug operation, truck scale and log yard. Other manufacturing facilities
owned by the company include Kingfisher Inc. a chip mill in Linden, Alabama, Seaman Timber
Company in Centreville, Alabama, and Seaman Timber Company Castleberry, a sawmill in south
Alabama. A Tie Buying Yard is located in Sheffield, Alabama for which green crossties are shipped to Montevallo for pressure treatment. While still serving the local farm and community needs, the
market area has expanded to serve a wide variety of industrial customers not only in
Alabama but also throughout the Southeast with increased shipments into the West, Midwest
and along the Eastern Seaboard. Some product has been sold for export through trading
