Feb 11, 2008 - 6:13 PM - by Lately the moderation team has been having more trouble with unwanted spambots, and after a few seconds of research I discussed the issue with the rest of the Sr. Ops team... and we all agree on an official change of policy that should be good for the community and the forums users. Before now, links with spam or botted posts had the contents edited and then the post was moved to the /dev/null part of the forum. The problem with this is that even with the bodies of the spam posts gone, the topic text - often saying things explicit or just spammy in nature - would stick around in the forum, creating a large group of spam-friendly keywords for search engines to target, effectively making the forum an even bigger target for the spambots that in turn used the forums more and more, until the recursiveness of it all scared newbs into hiding in f43r.
