| Walnut Grove Wannabe Walnut Grove Wannabe Thursday, April 24, 2008 A Nannie's Love Back in the day, that day actually being the years of 1995-2000, David and I had the privilege of working with some of the most amazing kids I have ever known. ...strong, determined, enthusiastic, intelligent, fun....they were our inauguration into youth ministry and they broke us in well. There were about twenty core members who we saw at least three times a week...sometimes more. We laughed a lot. We played together, sang together, prayed together, grew together. Like any family, we argued sometimes, but seemed to always make peace. Leaving them was one of the hardest things I have ever done and we haven't kept in touch as much as I would have liked, but even now, when I run into one of my kids, I just can't explain the rush of love I feel for them. One of our sons, Tony, is, at this very moment, facing one of the toughest life experiences he will ever know. His Nannie, after battling with cancer, has died. She has been the best and truest mother he has ever had. She raised him and at times it wasn't an easy job, but oh, did she ever love that boy. When Tony was that little blond-haired, blue-eyed toddler, she loved him.
When he was a little boy bringing home tons of rowdy friends to play football in her front yard, she loved him. When he started getting in trouble at school, she loved him. When he started going to church regular...
